Welcome to Hopkinton & Richmond

The quaint New England villages of Hope Valley, Hopkinton City and Ashaway comprise an area of small town charm and natural preservation that is the town of Hopkinton. With its neighboring villages of Carolina and Wyoming in the town of Richmond, this area provides old-fashioned general stores, arts and crafts and antiques shops, farm stands and numerous freshwater ponds and rivers.
The Wood River, fabulous for canoeing, kayaking and freshwater fishing, runs through the center of the Hope Valley. Other bodies of water with public access ideal for fishing and boating include Locustville, Wyoming, Blue and Ashville ponds.
The nature preserve at Ell Pond offers visitors hikes through a forest of stately hemlocks and beneath magnificent giant rhododendrons to explore the steep bedrock erosion caused by the last glacier more than 10,000 years ago. Walkers may pause on the bluff 70 feet above the pond to take in the scenic views, then clamber up and over the huge rock outcroppings and descend to the amazing, quaking bog and white cedar swamp.
